Klook Cares x FFFA Big Day Out

It's a bird! It's a plane! No, it's … us, here to tell you about our Big Day Out spent with our bene-family at Gardens by the Bay.

In collaboration with Klook Cares and GMET, we dedicated an entire day out and about with some of our beneficiaries at Gardens by the Bay! The plan was to let them experience all the fun activities there and spread kindness while making them feel like they’re part of a big family.

Gardens by the Bay, notably, is one of Singapore's most iconic attractions, and it is a great place to spend some time with the people we care about most. Not only were there plenty to see and do, there was also an educational aspect to the overall experience. Many of our children don't know that Singapore has so much nature worth protecting—and Gardens by the Bay is a great opportunity for our parents to show their kids how diverse our country's plant life really is.

As part of our #ChooseKindness movement, we've dedicated a day out to cultivating kindness in Singaporean society because we believe that kindness, in its entirety is an essential value to help create a more gracious, humane, and cohesive society.

To top it off, it was the first time visiting Gardens By The Bay for a lot of our beneficiaries, which made the day out a lot more exciting. The group of us were able to delight in the cool weather around the Flower Dome & Cloud Forest in spite of it being a weekend, and our bene-family were able to revel in the different types of plants and flowers that they would not be able to find in their own neighbourhood.

In addition, we also got to experience going on the OCBC Skyway, an aerial walkway that is suspended 25m above ground level, offering an elevated view of the Gardens' Supertree Grove.

For one of kids of our group that day, he mentioned that his visit to Gardens By the Bay was more than he could have ever imagined. Coming from an low-income family himself, days out like this with his parents were rare apart from the occasional school excursion trips he would partake in with his peers.

To say that he was beaming with joy that day is truly an understatement. He also told us that it was so much fun being able to be around his family, and how it was nice to finally be able to enjoy a day out alongside them.

The best part following the fun-filled day walking around snapping photos? The lot of us ended the afternoon with dinner at The Landmark - a restaurant at Victoria Street boasting one of Singapore’s largest selections of fresh seafood on ice, served alongside local favourites like chilli crab and black pepper crab.

Talk about a massive selection, buffet style!

What an amazing day we had with our bene-family at our Big Day Out! We are so thankful that we could be a part of this fantastic event, and we are so happy that we got to spend time with some of our beneficiaries. All these time spent with them has indeed showed us that we can help change lives by going the extra mile to connect with members of our community and making time for those in need.

Of course, this is the kind of thing we do all the time—we're always looking for new ways to provide hope and fun to those in need. But having a whole day where everything was centered around meeting our friends and making them happy? That's not something that happens every day, and for us it was truly a blessing.
